HC Deb 19 June 1907 vol 176 cc483-4
MR. PATRICK O'BRIEN (Kilkenny)

I beg to ask Mr. Attorney-General for Ireland whether any appointments have been made to the offices of counsel for the Board of Works in Ireland, and for the Irish Valuation Department; and, if not, will he explain why.

MR. BIRRELL

No appointment has been made of counsel to either of the Departments mentioned in the Question, nor is it intended that any permanent appointment should be made. For the future, as occasion requires the advice of counsel will be taken by each Department through their solicitor, and when it becomes necessary that either Department should be represented in Court, briefs will be sent to such counsel as may be selected, according to the varying circumstances of each case.
