HC Deb 19 June 1907 vol 176 c472
MR. LONSDALE

I bog to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether owners and tenants of grazing lands in Ireland will be permitted to organise and offer armed resistance to lawless mobs endeavouring to drive off their cattle.

MR. BIRRELL

I have nothing to add to the Answer which I gave to the same Question when put by the hon. Member for North Armagh on Monday last.†

MR. LONSDALE

Does the right hon. Gentleman not consider that the police are deterred from doing their duty by the belief that in doing so they will receive no sympathy from the Executive?

MR. BIRRELL

No, Sir. I know exactly to the contrary.
