HC Deb 18 June 1907 vol 176 cc303-4
MR. J. P. FARRELL

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether any steps are being taken by the Local Government Board to carry out the numerous inquiries under the Labourers Acts which will soon be going on all over Ireland; and whether it is the intention of the Board to employ such extra help as may be required to carry out existing schemes without unnecessary delay.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Answer to both parts of the Question is in the affirmative. The staff of the Local Government Board has been increased for the purposes of the Labourers Acts, and up to the present the inquiry into every scheme received by the Board has been held within the statutory period.
