§ MR. LEAI beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in view of the fact that a shareholder in a brewery company over which he has no control is precluded by law from sitting as a justice at licensing sessions, the Government will, in its new Licensing Bill, include a provision applying this disqualification to the proprietors of beverages and other supplies to licensed premises.
§ MR. GLADSTONEThough I have every sympathy with the desire that the proceedings of licensing benches should be free from any suspicion of personal interest, I cannot see my way at present to promise the legislation which my hon. friend suggests.
