MR. HICKS BEACH (Gloucestershire, Tewkesbury)

To ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies what arrangements have been made, in the absence of a garrison, for looking after the guns, barracks, and fortifications in the island of St. Helena.

(Answered by Mr. Churchill.) An officer of the Royal Engineers with a small staff are being temporarily detained in St. Helena for the service in question until more permanent arrangements can be made.
