§ MR. HARMOOD-BANNERI beg to ask the President of the Board of Education, on what grounds he refuses permission to the trustees of the Great Crosby Halsall Girls' School to utilise their funds in extending the girls' and infants' school on plans which have been approved by the Lancashire education authority; and what scheme is now under his consideration for utilising the funds to a better purpose than the extension of the schools.
§ MR. McKENNAThe Board informed the trustees of the Great Crosby Halsall Girls' School on the 25th May that as at present advised they were not prepared to entertain proposals for an expenditure of the capital funds of the endowment upon the extension of the premises of the elementary school of the foundation. A scheme for the reorganisation of this endowment is now in course of preparation, and I hope very shortly to be in a position to give directions for a draft to be communicated for the information of the trustees of the foundation and the local education authority with a view to its subsequent publication in the locality under the provisions of the Charitable Trusts Acts. It will be the duty of the Board to consider any objec- 1606 tions or suggestions that may be made to them by any parties interested. I consider that at the present stage of the proceedings it would be premature to make any further statement in the matter.
