To ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies how many appointments have been made to permanent messengerships at the Colonial Office since January, 1906, and what was the occupation of the individual men prior to appointment.

(Answered by Mr. Churchill.) One such appointment has been made. The person appointed was a temporary pensioner messenger in the employ of the Colonial Office, who was formerly a quartermaster-sergeant in the Army Service Corps.
