I beg to ask the Undersecretary of State for the Colonies under what conditions labourers from Trinidad are engaged in the construction of the Panama Canal; whether provision has been made for the repatriation of the labourers at the expiration of their contracts at the expense of the importer; whether the labourers are accompanied by their wives and families; and what system of inspection is in force to see that the terms of engagement are fulfilled.
§ THE UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (Mr. Churchill, Manchester, N. W.)
I can only refer the hon. Member to the Paper which has been laid and to the Answer which I have already given on this subject on Tuesday last. †
