I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether he will consider the advisability of recommending taxation of the luxuries of the rich in India with a view to the abolition of the salt tax, seeing that salt is a necessary of life in that country.

As stated by the Secretary of State a day or two ago the subject of the salt tax will continue to receive his closest attention.
