HC Deb 31 July 1907 vol 179 c956
MR. FELL

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board if any arrangements are being made for the continuance and extension of the work of afforestation commenced last year to find useful work for the unemployed.

MR. RUNCIMAN (for Mr. John Burns)

Any proposals as to temporary work to be provided under the Unemployed Workmen Act are matters for the local bodies under that Act. My right hon. friend has no information at present as to how far schemes relating to afforestation may be contemplated by those bodies, but any such schemes, if submitted to him, will receive his sympathetic consideration.
