HC Deb 25 July 1907 vol 179 c126
CAPTAIN CRAIG (Down, E.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether he can now state what battalions of Irish Militia it is intended to disband or amalgamate; can he say what the future status of officers and men will be; and is he aware that owing to the delay in issuing definite information on these subjects, recruiting is seriously handicapped and great difficulty experienced in obtaining subaltern officers.

MR. BUCHANAN

The hon. and gallant Member will readily understand that the selection of Irish Militia regiments for amalgamation will involve very careful consideration. I do not suppose that I shall be in a position to give any definite information on this matter for some time. As regards the status of the officers and men, information was given to the hon. and gallant Member in reply to a Question put by him on the 10th June. †
