§ SIR SEYMOUR KING (Hull, Central)To ask the Secretary of State for India whether he has any information to the effect that in one sub-division in Eastern Bengal the Gurkha police had not received their pay for three months, and that the delay in paying them their monthly wages has been caused by some Swadeshi baboos in the employ of the Government who have been deliberately delaying the necessary returns and papers; and whether he will cause inquiry to be made in the matter.
§ (Answered by MR. Secretary Morley.) I have observed a statement to this effect in a newspaper, but I can scarcely believe that it is correct. I will make inquiry.
