HC Deb 22 July 1907 vol 178 c1139
MR. SLOAN (Belfast, S.)

To ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies why only five native policemen are considered sufficient for the protection of St. Helena; and what special provision is made to deal with a possible insurrection.

(Answered by Mr. Churchill.) The police force of St. Helena is adequate to deal with the small amount of petty crime which exists, and it is not thought necessary to make any special provision for dealing with such a contingency as that suggested.
