HC Deb 22 July 1907 vol 178 cc1133-4
MR. J. M. ROBERTSON (Northumberland, Tyneside)

To ask the Secretary of State for India whether inoculation for the plague continues to be practised in India in general and the Punjab in particular.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Morley.) In all provinces inoculation is offered to the people, and is performed free of charge by the district medical staff. In the Punjab of late it has been accepted by increasing numbers. In April last over 21,000 persons were inoculated in that province. The extent to which the remedy is used must necessarily rest with the people themselves, as no one is inoculated against his will.
