§ SIR SEYMOUR KING (Hull, Central)To ask the Secretary of State for India whether any information exists at the India Office with reference to a scheme of reorganisation for the Public Works Department in India, which was reported to be under consideration by the Government of India two or three years ago; and whether any scheme for improving the pay and prospects of the Department has as yet been before the Secretary of State.
§ (Answered by Mr. Secretary Morley.) An increase of pay in the administrative grades of the engineering branch of the Public Works Department was sanctioned by my predecessor in August, 1905. I am not aware of any other scheme under consideration for improving the pay and prospects of the Department.
