COTTON (Nottingham, E.)To ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies if he has received representations from the Governor of Ceylon regarding the deportation of persons guilty of serious crime and of the increase in late years of the number of cases of murder and homicide; and whether he will lay upon the Table copies of correspondence on the subject.
§ (Answered by Mr. Churchill.) No representations on this subject have been received within the last two years. Correspondence which passed between the late Secretary of State and the Governor of Ceylon has recently been laid before the Legislative Council, and a copy will be placed in the Library of this House. It is not proposed to lay Papers upon the Table.
