I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland whether he has received any reports of illegal trawling in the neighbourhood of May Island during the last three weeks; and whether he will take the necessary steps to safeguard the interests of the fishermen on the Fife coast.

MR. SINCLAIR

The Fishery Board for Scotland have received no complaints of illegal trawling in the neighbourhood of the Island of May for over four months. The interests of the Fife †See (4)Debates, clxix., 1533. fishermen appear to be adequately safeguarded by the existing arrangements for fishery protection, but any necessary further steps will be taken.
