SIR GILBERT PARKERI beg to-ask the Secretary of State for War whether an order has been issued to the effect that the whole of the supplies of the 1906 re-made cartridges, representing many million rounds and distributed throughout the country, were to be returned in consequence of their being proved defective and dangerous in use; and if these supplies have been replaced by sound and effective cartridges.
§ MR HALDANEThe reply is in the affirmative. Some millions of rounds-have been withdrawn owing to the possibility of there being a few defective rounds amongst them. Any supplies withdrawn are replaced automatically.
