HC Deb 10 July 1907 vol 177 c1604
MR. MORTON (Sutherland)

I beg to ask the Secretary- of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been drawn to the danger from fire caused by articles made of celluloid, zylonite, and other similar substances, which are highly inflammable when in proximity to artificial light: and whether he will consider the desirability of granting powers to local authorities with respect to the storage and sale of such articles.

MR. GLADSTONE

This question has been under consideration for some time, and I have communicated with the London County Council on the subject of legislation.

Mr. H. J. TENNANT (Berwickshire)

asked if the right hon. Gentleman was considering the desirability of appointing a Committee of some kind to investigate the matter.

MR. GLADSTONE

replied that that hardly arose out of the Question on the Paper.
