HC Deb 10 July 1907 vol 177 c1606
MR. RENDALL

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether he proposes to introduce legislation making the sale of horse flesh for human food legal in this country as on the continent, having regard to the proposals of the Colonial Conference that imported wheat and meat should be taxed on entering this country.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. JOHN BURNS, Battersea)

My right hon. friend has asked me to reply to this Question. The sale of horse flesh for human food is legal in this country at the present time, provided that the requirements of the Sale of Horse Flesh, Etc., Regulation Act, 1889, are complied with.
