HC Deb 04 July 1907 vol 177 c854
VISCOUNT CASTLEREAGH (Maid-stone)

To ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether there has been any recent alteration in the hut tax imposed in the Kikuya country, in British East Africa; and, if so, what alteration has been made.

(Answered by Mr. Churchill.) I am not aware that there has been any change in the rate of hut tax in the Kikuyu country since it was raised to Rs. 3 per hut on the 1st April, 1906.
