HC Deb 04 July 1907 vol 177 c851
MR. WATT (Glasgow, College)

To ask the Secretary for Scotland whether his attention has been called to the fact that the recent Committee on Small Holdings recommended that an annual grant should be made by the Board of Agriculture to the Agricultural Organisation Society, which is a propagandist society dependent upon voluntary subscriptions, yet doing national work; whether he has yet been able to carry out this recommendation; and, if not, can he promise such a grant for the ensuing year.

(Answered by Sir Edward Strachey.) Perhaps I may be allowed to Answer this Question. We are aware of the recommendation of the Committee on Small Holdings to which my hon. friend refers, and we have received an application for a grant from the Agricultural Organisation Society, which is under consideration. There is, however, no prospect of our finding ourselves in a position to make a grant during the present financial year.
