§ MR. SUMMERBELLTo ask the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board o f Agriculture, whether he can state the date when the increase of wage and the shortening of hours promised to the labourers and others at the Royal Gardens, Kew, will come into operation.
(Answered by Sir Edward Strachey.) The increased wages sanctioned by the Treasury will be paid as from the 2nd May last. The arrangements to be made for the shortening of the hours of labour are being worked out in detail, and will be carried into effect with the least possible delay.
