HC Deb 02 July 1907 vol 177 cc540-1
MR. KETTLE (Tyrone, E.)

I beg to-ask the Prime Minister whether the proposed Vote of £50,000 to Lord Cromer for his services in Egypt will be submitted to the House by way of Resolution, and, if so, is he able to announce the terms of the Resolution and the date on which it will be introduced.

THE PRIME MINISTER And-FIRST LORD Of The TREASURY (Sir H. CAMPBELL-BANNERMAN,) Stirling Burghs

Any step which may be taken must originate with a message from the Crown, and until such a message is received it would be premature and improper to make any statement.

MR. WILLIAM REDMOND

I beg to give notice that, if the unprecedented course is taken of giving Lord Cromer a money reward for services for which he has already been well paid, I shall oppose the Resolution.
