I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War at what date the purchase was effected of the land at Kilcreggan, bought for £14,500; and what is the amount of money since expended on works.

As I informed my hon. friend on the 29th ultimo, the purchase was concluded in October, 1901; the amount of money expended on the construction of Portkil Battery since that date is approximately £19,560.
