HC Deb 02 July 1907 vol 177 c517
MR. DELANY

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the police who have been recently upon special duty on the farm of Dr. Hogan, at Dernaseer, near Mountrath, Queen's County, were placed there against the will of Dr. Hogan; and, if so, can he say at whose request and for what purpose the extra police were sent into this locality; and whether the local rates will be called upon to bear any portion of the expense.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) No police men have been stationed on the farm referred to, but for some time police patrols paid special attention to the farm, because there was reason to believe that an attempt would be made to drive the cattle off it. The police so employed belonged to the ordinary local force, and therefore no charge for extra police will fall on the local rates.
