WATT (Glasgow, College)I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland if, in view of the dissatisfaction as to the unequal manner in which the officials of local authorities in Scotland carry out their inspection of meat, he will appoint a veterinary surgeon, with practical experience of the work, to report on the standard and system of inspection in operation in the different districts.
§ THE SECRETARY FOR SCOTLAND (Mr. SINCLAIR, Forfarshire)An inquiry into the methods of meat inspection by the officers of local authorities in Scotland is now going on, and the suggestion of my hon. friend will be considered when the results of the inquiry are forthcoming.
