GLADSTONEExact figures are not available, but the inspectors estimate roughly that the number of foreigners employed at the mines is from 1,000 to 1,500 in the West Scotland district, and in the East Scotland district about 500. At the beginning of 1904 the total number of foreigners employed in mines in Scotland was estimated at 1,600.
