HC Deb 19 February 1907 vol 169 cc719-20
MR. BOLAND (Kerry, S.)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether his attention has been called to the resolution unanimously adopted by the committee of the Art Union of Ireland on 8th January, emphatically protesting against the Report and recommendations of the majority of the Committee of Inquiry into the Royal Hibernian Academy and the Metropolitan School of Art, and stating that the Minority Report commends itself to all those interested in the cause of art in Ireland and in the encouragement of the schools; and whether, in view of the fact that the public opinion of Ireland has declared itself against the destruction of the Academy, can he say what steps he proposes to take in the matter.

MR. RUNCIMAN

I fear I cannot add anything at present to the Answer given by my predecessor to the hon. Member's Question on the 20th December last.†
