HC Deb 19 February 1907 vol 169 c705
MR. HERBERT ROBERTS (Denbighshire, W.)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether his attention has been called to the despatch of the Government of Bombay, No. 3109 of 1905, Revenue Department, in which it is stated that in all future licences for the sale of intoxicating drinks a condition would be inserted that liquor should not be sold to persons under fourteen years of age; whether he is aware that this undertaking has not been carried out in all cases; and whether, having regard to the recommendation of the Excise Committee upon this subject, he can give an assurance that this restriction will in future be made effective in regard to all licences.

MR. MORLEY

I have ascertained from the Government of Bombay that the condition has been inserted in all licences renewed since the date of the letter referred to, and will be inserted in others when renewed.
