THE CHAIRMAN OF WAYS AND MEANS (Mr. EMMOTT,) Oldham ,

who had given notice of his intention to move, "In Standing Order 98, line 2, to leave out from the first of,' to 'Members,' in line 3, and insert 'E[...]even'" said: In view of the opposition to this proposed Amendment of the Standing Orders I do not intend to proceed with it this session, but will leave it over till next year.

SIR A. ACLAND-HOOD (Somersetshire, Wellington)

said he was glad to hear the decision of the hon. Gentleman, which under the circumstances he cordially approved.
