§ MR. J. MACVEAGH (Down, S.)To ask the President of the Board of Trade whether the Royal Commission on Light house Administration will visit the light houses on the Irish coast; and if so, would he recommend that they inquire into the pay and conditions of the light house keepers, and see that women and children are not kept on isolated stations, but have such stations made relieving, so that these families could be educated.
(Answered by Mr. Lloyd-George): The Royal Commission was appointed to inquire into the existing system of management of the lights, buoys, and beacons of the United Kingdom by the general lighthouse authorities, and as to the constitution and working of those authorities. I have no control over the proceedings of the Commission, but I understand from them that they have completed the taking of evidence and are engaged on their Report.
