HC Deb 06 August 1907 vol 179 cc1831-2
MR. ELLIS DAVIES (Carnarvonshire, Eifion)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will undertake that some Welsh- speaking representative of the quarry-men shall be a member of the Mines Commission when such Commission deals with the question of the working of open slate quarries in North Wales.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (MR. GLADSTONE, Leeds, W.)

The Royal Commission will not reach that part of their inquiry which deals with quarries for some time yet. When they do so I will consider my hon. friend's suggestion.
