MR. LONSDALE

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland what was the number of prisoners for trial at the recent summer assizes in Ireland for offences recorded as agrarian; and what were the results of the trials in such cases.

MR. CHERRY

The number of persons returned for trial at the recent summer assizes, for offences recorded as agrarian, was 167, the number of distinct cases being twenty-three. Three persons were convicted; thirty-one were acquitted; in the case of twenty-three persons the jury disagreed; and as regards the remaining 110 persons the cases were postponed to the next assizes.
