I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland if he will grant a Return of the number of local authorities who have, and of those who have not, appointed veterinary surgeons to carry out the provisions contained in Sections 43 and 60 of The Public Health (Scotland) Act, 1897, and in Article 3 of the Dairies, Cowsheds, and Milkshops Order of 1899.

I am informed that all the burghal and ninety-seven out of a total number of 107 county authorities have approved the employment of veterinary surgeons for the purposes of Section 43 of The Public Health (Scotland) Act, 1897.

I beg to ask the Secretary for Scotland if he will grant a Return for each of the years 1905 and 1906 of the number of inspections made ‡ See col. 669. by approved veterinary surgeons in terms of Section 60 (1) and (2),respectively, of The Public Health (Scotland) Act, 1897.

MR. SINCLAIR

The Returns for 1906 are as yet incomplete. In 1905 twenty-three inspections were made in terms of Section 60 (1), and eighteen in terms of Section 60 (2).
