HC Deb 29 April 1907 vol 173 c498
MR. MITCHELL-THOMSON (Lanarkshire, N.W.)

To ask the Secretary to the Admiralty what was the distance between the nearest available warship and the scene of the riots in St. Lucia on Tuesday, 23rd April; and how many of His Majesty's warships were within two days steam of the island on that date.

(Answered by Mr. Edmund Robertson.) 1,130 miles is the reply to the first part of the Question, and none to the second part. I may add that H.M.S. "Indefatigable" left Jamaica for Santa Lucia at noon on Sunday, 28th, a voyage of 930 miles.
