HC Deb 25 April 1907 vol 173 c253
MR. FLYNN (Cork, N.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Estates Commissioners instructed their inspector to visit and report upon the Longfield estate, at Ballyclough, and adjacent district, county Cork; are they aware that Inspector William Small neglected to give notice to or call upon the evicted tenant, Denis Lehane, whose application is before the Commissioners; and what explanation the inspector has to offer in regard to his neglect to visit Lehane's former holding.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Estates Commissioners inquired last year into the case of Denis Lehane, and were informed by the landlord that the evicted holding now forms part of his demesne, and that he does not propose to sell it. The Commissioners apprised Lehane accordingly, and informed him that his case will be inquired into when they are dealing with the sale of the estate. In the circumstances the Commissioners did not consider it necessary to instruct their inspector to visit the holding.
