HC Deb 25 April 1907 vol 173 c232
MR. KETTLE (Tyrone E.)

To ask the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the recent closing of the post office at Killeenan, county Tyrone, has caused inconvenience and dissatisfaction in the district; and whether he will take steps to have it restored.

(Answered by Mr. Sydney Buxton.) The rule of the department is that the sub-postmaster or sub-postmistress must be the tenant of the property in which, the Post Office work is conducted. It appeared that in this case this rule has not been observed. It was also thought that the sub-postmistress was too old to continue to perform the duties satisfactorily, while it was found that very little use was made by the public of the post office at Killeenan. It was, therefore, decided to close the office, an improvement being made at the same time in the deliveries of the district.
