§ SIR WILLIAM BULL (Hammersmith)I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade what steps he intends to take to protect the meat trade of the country from the attacks of a foreign trust, and to prevent meat unfit for food being marketed here by the representatives of the meat packers of the United States.
§ MR. LLOYD-GEORGEI would: remind the hon. Member that my right hon. friend the President of the Local Government Board has already introduced a Bill providing for the making of regulations in respect of the importation, preparation, storage and distribution of articles of food in the interest of public health. I am not aware that there is a case for any further action at the present time, but the matter is being carefully watched.
