HC Deb 24 April 1907 vol 173 c36
SIR WILLIAM BULL (Hammersmith)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade what steps he intends to take to protect the meat trade of the country from the attacks of a foreign trust, and to prevent meat unfit for food being marketed here by the representatives of the meat packers of the United States.

MR. LLOYD-GEORGE

I would: remind the hon. Member that my right hon. friend the President of the Local Government Board has already introduced a Bill providing for the making of regulations in respect of the importation, preparation, storage and distribution of articles of food in the interest of public health. I am not aware that there is a case for any further action at the present time, but the matter is being carefully watched.
