HC Deb 23 April 1907 vol 172 c1559
MR. ASHLEY (Lancashire, Blackpool)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War, whether, in the future, the Governor of Malta will continue to command the troops stationed in that island, in view of the fact that it has been decided to appoint a General Officer to command all the troops stationed in the Mediterranean.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR WAR (Mr. HALDANE, Haddington)

The functions of the Governor and his title will be unchanged. He will command the troops in Malta as at present. He will, of course, be subject in this command to the authority of the Commander-in-Chief of the Troops in the Mediterranean.
