To ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether he can state approximately the value of the contracts placed by the Admiralty with contractors in Ireland in the last financial year.

(Answered by Mr. Edmund Robertson.) The total value of contracts placed with Irish firms during the financial year 1906–7 is approximately £43,000. This does not include local orders for the supply of fresh meat, provisions, &c, placed by ships in Irish waters.
