HC Deb 17 April 1907 vol 172 cc994-5
MR. DOLAN (Leitrim, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will state why it is necessary to maintain police barracks at Garrison, county Fermanagh, Gublaun, county Leitrim, and Kiltyclogher, county Leitrim, as these places are only a mile and a-half apart.

MR. BIRRELL

The police station at Garrison is two and a-half miles from Gublaun, and six miles from Kiltyclogher, and the two last named stations are five miles apart. Though the Garrison station is comparatively near to Gublaun, the district policed from it extends nine miles to the north and embraces an area of thirty-one square miles. The police authorities are of opinion that each of these stations is necessary, and cannot at present be discontinued.
