MR. PIKE PEASEI beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies if he can make any statement in regard to the application for loan and grant to Jamaica.

MITCHELL-THOMSON (Lanarkshire, N.W.)At the same time, may I ask the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is now in a position to state what requests for the provision of financial assistance have been received by the Government from the Jamaican representatives now in England; and what assistance by grant or loan the Government propose to give.
§ MR. CHURCHILLThe Secretary of State has only during the last day or two had an opportunity of listening to the statement of the Archbishop of Jamaica, who has introduced a deputation from the Colony. The consideration of the case is not yet concluded.
