SIR CHARLES DILKE (Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean)

To ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer if it is possible to give information to the House as to the amount of duty which, having escaped Income Tax assessment, has been subsequently recovered by the Inland Revenue Department.

(Answered by Mr. Asquith.) The unassessed duty recovered by the Inland Revenue Department in the year 1905–6 amounted to £401,323.
