To ask the Secretary for Scotland whether he can state the total amount received and ex- pended by local authorities in Scotland on police, including grants from Local Taxation Account, and the rate per head of the population of Scotland.

(Answered by Mr. Sinclair.) The cost of police services in Scotland, part of which is defrayed from grants from the Local Taxation Account, for the year 1906, amounted to £573,348, excluding pensions, being at the rate of 2s. 5½d. per head of estimated population.
