I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade if his attention has been called to an accident at Newton Heath, Manchester, on the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, on 25th March, in which several passengers were injured; and, if so, whether an inquiry has been ordered; and whether such inquiry will include questions as to how long the fireman had been in the service of the company and how many days he had been employed on passengers or other trains.

This accident was duly reported by the railway company and an inquiry into the circumstances attending it will be held by an inspecting officers of railways.
