To ask the Secretary of State for India what was the total value of the opium exported from India in 1906, and the value of that consigned direct to ports in China.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Morley.) The value of the opium exported from India in the year 1906, as shown in the trade returns, was £6,128,016, of which £4,806,452 represents opium consigned direct to Hongkong and the treaty ports in China.
