WARD (Stoke-on-Trent)I beg to ask the Postmaster-General whether he can give the date on which negotiations were first opened between his department and the North Stafford Railway Company with reference to the building of a new post office at Stoke-on-Trent; whether the proceedings are being delayed by a demand on the part of his department that the proposed office-should be built by the company upon their land, and the inability of the company to provide land for that purpose; and whether he has any other adjacent alternative site under consideration.
§ MR. SYDNEY BUXTONThe Question of a new post office at Stoke-on-Trent was first discussed with the North Staffordshire Railway Company about four years ago. There is no difference with the company of the nature suggested by the hon. Member, and I have not therefore thought it necessary to consider an alternative site. I hope that the matter will now make progress.
