§ MR. O'GRADY (Leeds, E.)To ask the First Commissioner of Works, in view of the undertaking that the various Government Departments would consider the matter of the Fair Wage Clause in their application to Government contracts, whether any, and, if any, what action has been taken in the matter.
(Answered by Mr. Harcourt.) It has been the practice of my Department for years past to take such measures as were considered best to secure the observance 1087 of the Fair Wages Resolution of the House of Commons, but I have recently caused specific clauses for that purpose to be inserted in certain contracts in which they had not been so categorically expressed before. I am, of course, able to answer only for my own Department.
