§ MR. KEIR HARDIE (Merthyr Tydvil)I beg to ask the Home Secretary 420 whether his attention has been called to the case of Miss Pankhurst, who was on Wednesday sent to prison for fourteen days at Westminster Police Court for alleged disorderly conduct; and whether, seeing that the only evidence against her was the uncorroborated testimony of a single policeman, while three women who were called to give evidence for the defence contradicted the policeman's statements in every essential particular, he would give instructions for her immediate release.
§ *MR. GLADSTONEI have read in the papers what happened, and since receiving the hon. Gentleman's letter giving notice of the Question I have directed inquiries to be made as to the facts of the case.
§ MR. KEIR HARDIEintimated that he would repeat the Question on Monday.
